
It would be pretty understandable if you are just starting on oDesk and need to get hired quick. I know, I did the same thing when I first started. I applied for a job at a very low rate just to get hired. I finished the assignment, made a good first impression, received a good feedback and gained a few oDesk hours. From then on, job offers and job interviews kept rolling in.
You see, that's how it works at oDesk. With no feedback, no oDesk hours and no work history to show to buyers, there'd be less chances in getting hired. Your only chance is to apply for a job at a lower rate but soon as you get hired, soon as you have gained reputation points, make sure to change it into something much more decent.
